EYE'EM Feat. Devyn Caldwell

Fountain View by Devyn Caldwell on EYE'EM Who are you? And what do you do? Born and raised in California, I followed a circuitous path via progressively larger cities (most recently Chicago) to fulfill a lifetime desire of making New York City my home. In E. B. White’s poem There Are Roughly Three New Yorks, I am most definitely the settler who came in quest of something, and I would like to believe I help contribute to the passion of the city. Of course, the realities of living in Manhattan require me to hold a corporate job, so I work as a Business Analyst.

EYE'EM Feat. Anton Kawasaki

Who are you? And what do you do? My name is Anton Kawasaki, and I live in New York City. I've worked at DC Comics for the last decade, and I owned and operated my own comic book store before that. People are always asking me if I DRAW the comics. I wish! I'm just an editor there. But I get to work with super-heroes on a daily basis, which I have to say is pretty fun. In 2011 I'm going to be changing careers, though. I haven't quite decided what I'll be doing just yet, but I'm very excited about exploring new possibilities. I don't think I'll ever make a living with my iPhoneography, but I definitely plan to be more heavily involved with it in the coming year. You'll just have to pay attention to me in the coming months to find out what's coming next! Oh, and my partner is some guy named Sion Fullana. You may or may not have heard of him....

New Competition: Guerilla Exhibition

Hi ...

Your city has endless perspectives: NYC

Different perspectives enable us to see the world through the eyes of those who move it.  After Berlin and Barcelona, what city should be featured other than the location of our next exhibition, New York! Your city has endless perspectives, and mobile photography is the perfect medium for capturing those perspectives; special places, at the perfect moment. What are your favorite perspectives of New York? Share them in the comments, or just upload them to EYE'EM, drop by Openhouse Gallery on September 27th, and say hi, and chill with us in the lounge while your photos stream down in beautiful waterfalls!

Capturing the Moment.

From Robert Capa to Dorothea Lang. From Peshawar, Afghanistan to Tiananmen Square, China. Photojournalists have captured moments that have become part of our collective consciousness. Iconic photographs such as Alfred Eisenstaedt's V-J day in Times Square or Kevin Carter's Vulture Stalking a Child have been seared into our consciousness. They transcend the particular moments depicted and become representations of our humanity. They speak to our hopes, fears, and dreams. They act as permanent reminders of our capacity to love and our equal capacity to hate. Dorothea Lang: Migrant Mother (1930)
