by Markus Spiering, Chief Product Officer & GM US, EyeEm

At EyeEm, we care deeply about photography and connecting you with a community of millions of photographers. EyeEm is in the hands of more than 10 million people, who have uploaded over 40 million photos so far. Today we are launching a brand new, overhauled version of our Android app to keep your amazing work flowing.

There is a renewed focus on your photos with this big update. We want to make sure that they look their absolute best on EyeEm. All your photos will be shown in their full format in both profiles and albums. Explore the details of any photo by accessing the new full screen view with a single tap. We’re also excited to introduce cover photos, which allow you to personalize your profile and express your artistic style.

Missions are an important part of EyeEm, and we see tens of thousands of photos submitted for each of the Missions.

Missions are a way to win prizes and get published by submitting your best photos to competitions that can be about a timely event like the World Cup, finding new forms of photographic expressions as we recently did with Getty Images, or sharing moments about your rides like the new Mission we’re launching today with the innovative transportation company Uber.

We’ve given Missions a brand new home, displaying all of the information you need in one place – from the mission description and the prizes up for grabs to featured images that inspire you.

To get you started with Missions, we teamed up with Uber to offer you a free ride. Just enter UBERMISSIONUSA (for the US) or UBERMISSIONEU (for EU countries) to get your voucher. Photograph your Uber driver, the ride and the destination to create a photographic diary of your day and then submit your best photo.

In addition to a complete redesign, we rebuilt the app from scratch to improve speed, performance, and allow us to bring you new features even faster in the future.

We hope that you enjoy the new EyeEm for Android, and we’d love to hear your feedback on Twitter and Facebook.
