Hey Tori, nice to meet you! Please tell us a little bit about yourself..
My name is Tori Church and I was born and raised Idaho. I absolutely love Idaho and can’t dream of living anywhere else. I’m studying English at Boise State University, and beyond excited to graduate next spring!
I’m hopeful to continue my education and work towards a masters in Speech Pathology. For work, I am a developmental therapist and work with kids with disabilities. My dream is to continue living in Idaho but also to have the opportunity to travel and see new places.
What’s in that suitcase some of your images show?
Nothing. Yes, nothing. Sometimes I have a change of clothes in it, or other random things I might want to take a photo with. I was given the suitcase full of old, vintage towels when I moved into my first house and fell in love with it. Randomly one day I decided it would be great for pictures and those pictures have been some of my favorites.
Who was the last person who called you?
My mom was the last person to call me. We talk pretty much every day.
Best band of all time?
I don’t even know if I can pick! I feel like my music taste changes everyday depending on my mood.
You’ve won the lottery – what’s the first thing you buy?
I’ve had my eye on a lens for awhile so probably that. And then travel anywhere and everywhere, taking pictures along the way. With my new lens of course!
What was the last thing you ate?
My morning coffee and gummy bears. I have tons of leftover Halloween candy and somebody needs to eat it, may as well be me!
Favorite image you recently took?
Sometimes it’s hard for me to pick a favorite image. I like so many pictures for so many different reasons. Most recently though was a photo I took this weekend. I really wanted to get out and get pictures of the leaves before they were gone. One picture I took really stood out to me. It was a pretty simple picture of two leaves held into the light.
What does photography mean to you?
Photography had reminded me to slow down and enjoy the details in life. It’s so easy to go through the motions of everyday, but photography has given me a reason to stop and notice the finer things. It’s also given me a means to explore places I probably otherwise wouldn’t. Some of my best memories have been a drive to the mountains to explore with friends and a camera.
What do you do most in your free time?
I have this need to create things, so I can usually be found painting, drawing, taking pics or editing. I even have a whole room dedicated to arts and craft stuff. I do a lot of reading in my free time as well. I have my books for school but I always have a book I’m reading for myself.
Which person (dead or alive) would you like to meet for coffee?
I’ve always thought this was one of the hardest questions to answer. I’ve never felt like I’ve had a really good answer for this. Jane Austen has always been one of my favorite authors so she is definitely someone I would like to meet for coffee.
Tell us something about you that people didn’t know.
Something that people don’t know about me is that even now as an adult I’m terrified of the dark. I even have a flashlight app on my phone that gets used daily, or should I say nightly? I was given a puppy for Christmas a few years ago to help me feel more safe at night but I think she is just as scared of the dark as I am.
Thank you for the interview, Tori! We highly recommend to go and pay Tori a visit on her EyeEm profile.
