Back in July Christian Barić aka kopete went to documenta, the world’s most important fair for contemporary art. Taking place only every 5 years, Christian created a stunning photo series of the faces and places of the documenta (13).
From the desk of kopete:
documenta is an 100 days lasting exhibition of modern and contemporary art in Kassel, Germany.
dOCUMENTA(13) attracted my interest with a pre documentary on TV. I liked especially the installations and the fact that it takes place in different locations all over the town. A classic “I have to be there” situation and so my first but not last documenta.
Actually my focus in photography is street photography. So, my goal was to combine street photography with giving an unfiltered view of the exhibited art. The series could also be named faces and places of the d(13). While discovering art for two days in July I tried to capture interesting people in front of or in between interesting art and not editing that much.
The conclusion of my visit is mixed. I have seen a lot of interesting art, people and locations. Sadly, photography did not seem to be that important for such an exhibition. It was kind of “the forgotten art”.
Anyway I enjoyed it and documenta is definitely worth a visit.
I hope you enjoy my series taking during the dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel:
