On Saturday, 29th of September, the first ever EyeEm Manila Meetup took place. These brave souls came out despite the heavy rain in the morning to shoot some beautiful pictures to share with us!
Here’s a recap from Giancarlo Batac, who organized the meetup:
It was raining heavily in the morning and it somehow stopped just in time for the photowalk. We all chatted for a bit and around 3:15 PM, I started talking about the route that we are going to take, alittle bit of orientation about EyeEm, mobile photography, where to upload and also some photography tips.
We started at The Oblation where a lot of other people were taking photos of the famous Oblation statue as well. After that, we started walking through the Academic Oval, stopping at different points to take photos of the trees, canopy, students, runners, cyclists, etc. Next, we reached Vargas Museum and saw some interesting statues. Afterwards, we reached Palma Hall where we saw a “taho” vendor. “Taho” is a snack food here in the Philippines made of soft tofu, pearl tapioca and sweetened by vanilla syrup with brown sugar. Each of us had a cup and afterwards we continued walking following the route and we reached the Main Library (University of the Philippines Bibliotech), a big building that has 2 columns and different tinted windows.
We went on with our photowalk and we reached the UP Film Institute and the Carillon (bell tower). It has a beautiful garden and some of us took photos of the flowers there. Alora and myself saw a couple and we took photos of them (discreetly) while they were sweetly resting underneath the bell tower. Fortunately, we weren’t caught! Then we wrapped up our walk at Chocolate Kiss Cafe, a restaurant located at Bahay ng Alumni which is just in front of UP Film Institue. There we ordered dinner, uploaded some photos and talked and talked about the amazing day that we had taking pictures together.
