On Saturday, 29th of September, the first ever EyeEm Istanbul Meetup took place. The group spent a lovely Saturday afternoon exploring around the Karakoy bridge and taking photos.
Here’s a recap from Elif aka fisheyedreams, who organized the meetup:
The meetup for Istanbul started at 15:30 in front of the New Mosque (Yeni Camii) in Eminönü. The area is great for its wonderful Istanbul silhouette and the sea. Also it is very close to the Grand bazaar so its very crowded on Saturdays.
The area where the New Mosque is can be quite crowded and with wonderful subjects we started taking pictures as soon as we met.We walked over the Karakoy bridge which has a lot of people fishing and enjoyed the view of the Galata Tower. Walking below the bridge was exciting for some people that came to the meetup. Some have not been to this part of the bridge. We spent quite a bit of time taking pictures there.
After a while went to the Fish Market which is at the very end of the bridge and enjoyed the seagulls and people buying fish. The light and time of the day was perfect for the Fish Market. The fisherman were all asking if we wanted to buy fish and were joking about us just taking photographs.
The weather was wonderful and from the fish market we walked to the Karakoy port and drank some coffee there. We discussed what photos we took and enjoyed talking about what pictures we were posting on EyeEm. At around 6 we were all heading back home hope to meet again for our next EyeEm Istanbul meetup.
